A
Heartfelt Goodbye and a New Beginning
"Gettin'
Later" solidified its foundation as Slippery Rock's,
and the world's, late night leader in the fourth season.
It booked more well-known guests and continued building
its empire, even as there was a change in On-Air personel.
After
3-and-a-half seasons as host, Ben Mitchell stepped down
due to a busy schedule. Former Sidekick, Ryan Muldowney,
replaced him and began a new era of hilarity. Mike Reilly
joined Ryan as the new sidekick, and the two of them formed
a comedic duo not seen since the days of Jay Leno and Edd
Hall.
There
was a massive public relations campaign that sought out
to spread awareness of the show to a new generation of viewers.
It opened everyone's eyes to the genius of the show and
made the cast campus celebrities.
The
big name guests kept pouring in. Guy Junker of ESPN Radio
1250 came by, as well as Rick Sebak, the nationally acclaimed
documentary producer for PBS. FOX Sports Net was also very
good to us, sending us the hardest working sportscaster
in Pittsburgh, Dan Potash. Some lesser known guests also
chatted it up, including several freaks who could do wonderous
things with their bodies. Musical guest One Left Standing
left the audience standing and wanting more after playing
a song off of their hit album.
The
show grew creatively as the cast and crew learned even more
about the ins and outs of producing a hit campus late-night
talk show. Wonderfully hilarous skits, including "Library
Entrapment," "The Floppy Disk Man Saga,"
"The Ryan Muldowney Hit Parade," "The GL
Commercial Series," and "The Devin Gallagher Annoying
Clip of the Week," brought joy to the hearts of fans
and demanded the attention of viewers across America.
The
website also improved, with episodes being added weekly
and a messageboard created so fans had an output for discussion
of the show.
The
staff is looking ahead to Season 5 with anticipation. Ryan
and company will come out of the gate with their comedic
guns blazing. Saddle up, Partner, it's going to be a hell
of a ride!
